I Audit The School District That Violated Liberty Troll

My First Amendment Audit at the Palm Beach County School District

In the spirit of upholding First Amendment rights, I recently embarked on a visit to the Palm Beach County School District. This trip was inspired by Liberty Troll’s experience there last month, where his rights were blatantly violated.

During Liberty Troll’s visit, he encountered rudeness from a staff member named Dustin and was even ordered by security to turn off his camera. When he refused, things escalated, and Major Richard “Dick” Moore of the Palm Beach County School District Police Department trespassed him from public property.

After learning about this incident, I contacted Liberty Troll to discuss the situation. We decided it would be valuable to conduct my own audit and see how I would be treated.

Thankfully, my experience was significantly different. While there were some tense moments, there weren’t any major confrontations. Here’s a breakdown of what transpired:

  • Patricia Coolahan, a school district analyst, did appear agitated about my presence and contacted the police.
  • However, the responding officer, Cadillo, was professional and understanding of my First Amendment rights. We even had a cordial conversation.
  • The security guard was friendly and even exchanged a few pleasantries with me.
  • In contrast to Liberty Troll’s experience with Dustin, the front desk staff member, Kiera, was incredibly helpful. She assisted me with my public records request and ensured it reached the appropriate department promptly. I even received a response with the requested information a few days later, including details about Patricia Coolahan.

This audit experience highlights the importance of professionalism and respectful conduct within public service institutions. It also demonstrates how situations can vary depending on the individuals involved. While I may not have encountered the same hostility as Liberty Troll, my visit underscores the potential for misunderstandings and the need for clear communication regarding First Amendment rights.

This blog post serves as a record of my experience and aims to spark a conversation about transparency and accountability in public institutions. It’s crucial for citizens to understand their rights and for public servants to uphold them. Let’s continue to promote open dialogue and ensure everyone feels comfortable exercising their First Amendment freedoms.
